Things to learn:
The sound
should have been louder. I should also have chosen a place that would naturally
have stopped people for few seconds. Now the sound seemed to come about two
seconds too late. And even that was too much: people had passed by the place
already. Maybe a good idea would have been to place the loudspeakers to the
other side of the door, inside the library. There was a little, separate space
for bringing back books and maybe it wouldn’t have disturbed the customers too much.
But library is anyway a library and somehow the silence there seems “holy” - I don’t think they would have allowed me to
do it there. The toilet might have been a good place as well.
It would
have been better if the motion detector reacted to movement also a bit further
away. Now it was discriminating: asking only tall people to mind their
thoughts.
Things to
be happy about:
*Glad about
knowing more about the technical side now.
*Happy with
the sound, it’s ”message”.
*Glad to
have gained more experience in dealing with city’s ”authorities”.
*Happy
about how my ideas were listened to in Espoon kulttuurikeskus
*Happy that
nothing got stolen or broken.
*When there
were less people, it worked nicely.
*Grateful
to Eikka, who was very helpful in putting up the work.
*Thanks to
Andy for a course that raised many thoughts about art’s possibilities
