On friday I found few things in Heikintori that could be worth checking out for people who were interested in tango and creating a scene from the past. Unfortunately I don't have a picture, but on the 2nd floor there was a dance studio-like place with mirrors. It was a weird nonspace that wasn't probably used much and anyone could just walk in. Also, at the top floor there was a nice little boutique for women's hats. It was closed, but it also looked like something from the past.
I heard from somewhere that there used to be a cafe at the top floor of Tapiola tower. We tried to go up and look at the view, but now the whole tower seems to be in corporate use and there's no possibility for everyone to go and enjoy the view over Tapiola. Someone once said that everyone should see the horizon at least once in a day. It gives you the understanding of your surroundings and a feeling of presence. In general, it's good for you. I think that there are way too little this kind of places in high buildings where people can enjoy the view from the bird or the god perspective. What I would like to do is to return this perspective for the people in Tapiola to enjoy. If it's not possible to open up the terrace at 12th floor, i'd like to place a webcam there, so at least people could see the view online. I could create an internet cafe with a view.. This is probably what I will base my project on, returning the perspective.
My favorite webcam is this one, where you can observe the nest of a hawk: http://www.balticseanow.info/en/Home/explore_0/webcameras_0/ospreynest.html.stx
And here's what me and Eero had for lunch at the EMMA SIS Deli cafeteria. 3/5
